COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland jumped out to a 31-3 halftime lead and never looked back defeating Old Dominion University football 47-10 Saturday evening in College Park.

The Monarchs fall to 0-2 on the year while Maryland improves to 2-0.  The contests against Maryland and last week at East Carolina were the first two games versus FBS teams in school history.

The teams traded field goals to start the game as Brad Craddock kicked a 32-yarder for Maryland while Jarod Brown booted a 35-yarder to tie the score at three apiece for ODU.  Heinicke nearly hit Blair Roberts in the back of the end zone for a touchdown but it was ruled an incomplete pass.

After the trading of field goals, Maryland scored 44-straight points until Cam Boyd’s three-yard touchdown run.

Boyd got ODU into the end zone in the fourth quarter, capping a 10 play, 61 yard scoring drive.  Boyd carried the ball seven times for 41 yards on the drive.

Maryland scored twice in the third quarter to take a 45-3 lead.  Brown carried in from 31 yards and he tossed a four-yard score to Nigel King.

Melvin Vaughn was tackled in the end zone for a safety early in the fourth quarter for a Maryland safety.

Maryland took the lead on a five-yard Brandon Ross touchdown, capping a seven play, 77-yard drive.

After Maryland intercepted a pass, the Terrapins used a deep pass from Brown to Diggs and a five-yard Brown run to take a 17-3 lead.

Maryland took a 24-3 lead on a Brown to Diggs 41-yard pass, capping a 97-yard drive.

Albert Reid gave Maryland a 31-3 lead going into halftime with a 27-yard run to cap an 80-yard scoring drive.

Heinicke was 18-of-34 for 166 yards and ran for 51 yards.  Larry Pinkard caught a career-best seven passes for 96 yards, all in the first half.
