Monarchs to Honor Seniors in Final Home Game Against Campbell

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University football returns home after earning the first FBS win in school history to host Campbell on Senior Day at 1 p.m.

• After the longest road trip in school history at Idaho, the Monarchs return home for Senior Day today to host Campbell at 1 p.m.

• ODU recorded its historic first win over an FBS team with a 59-38 victory last Saturday at Idaho.  

• After the win at Idaho, Old Dominion is now a perfect 13-0 all-time in the month of November.

• The Monarchs are a perfect 5-0 and are looking for their first-ever unbeaten season at home.

• ODU trailed 14-0 just five minutes in but scored 17-straight points and the score was tied 31 at halftime.  ODU outscored the Vandals 28-7 in the second off for the monuental victory.

• Taylor Heinicke was 40-of-56 for 533 yards and four touchdowns.  He also rushed for 20 yards and a TD.  His 533 passing yards is the third most by an FBS quarterback this season and the second most in school history.  Heinicke threw for a Division I record 730 yards last year against New Hampshire.

• Senior Marquel Thomas had the best game of his career, notching career-highs with seven receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns.  Antonio Vaughan had three catches for 103 yards and a score while Larry Pinkard had eight for 86 yards.

• ODU will honor 12 student-athletes today in which will be there final home contest as an Old Dominion football player: Marquel Thomas, Aaron Evans, Paul Morant, Colby Goodwyn, Jarod Brown, John Darr, Jack Lowney, David Born, D.J. Morrell, Nate Barnes and Alex Johnson. Thomas, Darr, Lowney, Barnes and Johnson are the final five remaining players from the first ODU team in 2009.  T.J. Cowart, also a member of the 2009 team, will be honored as well.  Cowart was denied a medical redshirt by the NCAA this spring.

• D.J. Simon recorded his team-high third interception of the season in the first quarter to set up an ODU field goal.  Sandy Chapman, starting in his first career game, intercepted the final pass of the game on an Idaho Hail Mary.

• For the fouth time this season, Old Dominion produced more than 600-yards of total offense, putting up 621 yards, the seventh most in school history. The 621 yards is easily the most against an FBS opponent.

• For the fifth time this season and 11th in school history, ODU recorded 50 or most points.  ODU is an unbeaten 11-0 in those games.

• ODU senior offensive lineman Jack Lowney started his 41st straight game on the offensive line last week.  Lowney has started the last 22-straight at left tackle.  During his streak, he has started five games at righ guard and 13 at right tackle.  Taylor Heinicke has the next highest start streak at 31 games.  

•  Paul Morant and Fellonte Misher led the ODU defense with eight tackles apiece.  The Monarchs recorded four sacks on the day.  Reggie Owens, Terrell Reid and Preston Smith all recorded one while Rashaad Coward and Jude Brenya shared a sack.

ODU returns home for senior day against Campbell after going on the longest road trip, 2700 miles, in school history.  ODU is 5-0 at home and looking to complete the first undefeated home portion of the schedule in the five years of the program.

• After playing three FBS teams on the road, ODU won their first road contest of the season last Saturday at Norfolk State. ODU won their second-straight road game with the win last week at Idaho.  Prior to this season, ODU had a better road record than at home, going 16-3 in 19 road games, including being unbeaten on the road in 2010 and 2012.

• ODU is 45-13 under head coach Bobby Wilder, appearing in the FCS playoffs the only two years they were eligible for a postseason bid.
