Get to Know Your Monarchs: Rashaad Coward Q&A
During fall camp, ODUSports.com featured one Monarch a day in a "Get to Know Your Monarchs" segment. That will continue during the season, as we get to know true freshman defensive tackle, Rashaad Coward.
Q: What is your major? Sports management.
Q: What made you want to play football? It was an opportunity to play in front of a lot of people and it made my family proud.
Q: How old were you when you started playing football? I was 11 years old.
Q: What is like moving down here from New York? Everything is different. I knew everybody in New York and everything is fast paced. Down here it is more calm.
Q: How often does your family get to come down and see you play? They came down for two games here and they came to the Maryland game.
Q: What are your thoughts going into the game against North Carolina? It is a great opportunity for us as a team to get better and show off our talent.
Q: How does it feel knowing that you are about to play your last game of freshman year? It’s hard seeing that football season is over already.. We’re excited to play this last game.
Q: How was the last practice of the season? It doesn’t really feel like the last practice to me because we have off-season and everything, but without the pads it’s going to be different.
Q: Do you have any pre-game rituals? I just listen to music to get my mind straight.
Q: If you could be the head coach of an NFL team for one year, which team would you choose? Definitely the Philadelphia Eagles.
Q: What was your favorite part about playing football in high school? Being the leader of the team, bringing everyone together and rallying everybody when they needed it.
Q: What has been your biggest accomplishment you achieved this year? I would say blocking two field goals.
Q: What is your favorite food? Pizza.
Q: Of the many schools to choose from, why did you choose ODU? I just wanted a fresh start from everything. This was a new environment and great campus. It was the start of something new really.
Q: What is something most people do not know about you? I’m actually a nice person. People think I’m mean sometimes.
Q: How does it feel running through the tunnel at every home game? It feels great. I never really did anything like that before. Between the smoke, the crowd and the fireworks it just is exciting.
Q: If you could be any athlete for one day who would you want to be? Trent Cole.
Q: Which game was your favorite this season? The game against Idaho. That’s when I got my first sack of the year.
Q: What is your dream vacation? The Bahamas.
Q: What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? Take coaching and don’t talk back.
