NORFOLK - The NCAA Division I Championships/Sports Management Cabinet announced today that Old Dominion University has been selected as the host institution for the 2016 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship, on November 18 and 20, 2016 at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.

The 2016 event will mark the sixth time the University has hosted the NCAA field hockey championships, including 1985 and 1986, 2000, 2012 and most recently the 2013 event in November which included all three NCAA Division championship games.

“ODU’s selection as host for 2016 is a great credit to the long success of our field hockey program and the work the ODU athletic staff has put into making this a premier event,” says athletic director Dr. Wood Selig. “We are pleased the NCAA has recognized our success in hosting championships, especially on the heels of hosting two back to back tournaments,  and we look forward to showcasing the sport of field hockey at the L.R.
