From the Desk of Bobby Wilder - Happy Holidays from Monarch Football!
By ODU Athletics
From the Old Dominion Football family to your family, we would like to wish you all the best during the holiday season. Our team is grateful to all of you for the tremendous support you have shown over the course of the 2013 season. You inspire us all to improve and achieve at the highest level. The 2013 season was a learning experience for our team and one that we will grow from in the future. An 8-4 record with all 4 losses to bowl teams, our first ever undefeated season at home, and our first of many wins to come vs. F.B.S. opponents says the future is now! Together we have built a program that is 46-14 in five years, winning 77% of our games. We have won a conference championship, we have been to the playoffs, and now we set our sights on bowl games. With the expansion of the L.R. Hill sports complex and a new stadium in our near future, Old Dominion football is poised to reach for the stars!
Our team and our staff will take some much needed time off to spend with our families. Our kids just completed our best semester ever academically and they need a break. Our staff has been on the road recruiting since our season ended and we have announced seven new student athletes who will join our team in January. We will get on the road in January to complete what has already been ranked our best signing class ever at Old Dominion, which is currently ranked #2 in C-USA. We could not do this without you. Recruits see 35 consecutive sellouts at home, they see the support from the University and the community, and they envision what their lives will be like in one of the best places in America to live.
We will continue to work tirelessly to build a football program that you can be proud of on and off the field!
Happy Holidays to all!
