Old Dominion Rowing Added to the Big 12 Conference
NORFOLK, Va. – The Big 12 Conference announced the addition of Old Dominion University to compete in the Big 12 starting in 2015 with the Championship conducted at Lake Melton in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
“I am very excited about the invitation being extended by the Big 12,” said ODU head coach Dan Garbutt. “It is an outstanding academic and athletic conference and it is an honor to have our young program be part of such a competitive group. I believe it provides an incredible opportunity for our Lady Monarchs. We are just beginning our 20-hour weeks now and the team is tightening its focus on this spring and C-USA.”
This season Old Dominion competes in Conference USA. The 2014 C-USA Championship will be held May 16-18 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Old Dominion joins Alabama and Tennessee as the Big 12 newest members. Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia are the current members of the Big 12.
ODU starts the season March 16 against the University of Rhode Island at the Occoquan River in Manassas, Virginia.
