The Monarchs tacked on an insurance run in the sixth and William & Mary scored a run in the ninth to bring the final score to 6-3.

At the plate, Walker finished the night 2-for-5 with three runs scored, while Jared Young continued to swing a hot bat with a 2-for-4 performance, including a double.

On the mound, starter John Wilson tossed three scoreless frames on a limited pitch count and Nelson earned the win, the first of his career, with 2.2 innings of shutout relief. The Norfolk native struck out three and walked none. Overall, the Monarch pitchers struck out five and walked none.
