KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Old Dominion fell to Oakland, 5-4, via a walk-off hit by pitch on Saturday afternoon at Osceola Heritage Park in ODU's second game of the Sunshine State Classic.

Old Dominion (1-1) led 3-1 through six innings, behind 4.1 innings of no-hit ball from freshman starter Hunter Gregory.

However, Oakland (1-1) rallied in the bottom half of the seventh, scoring three runs, two of which were unearned, to take a 4-3 lead. A Vinnie Pasquantino sac fly tied the game at 4-4 in the eighth, before Corey Klak issued a bases-loaded hit by pitch in the bottom of the ninth.

For ODU, Will Morgan went 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, while Brian Morley and Kyle Battle each posted two-hit games.

On the mound, Gregory, a Chesapeake native and Hickory grad, had an impressive debut, allowing one run on zero hits in 4.1 innings of work. Gregory also struck out six. The bullpen then allowed four runs, including three unearned, in four total innings.

The Monarchs return to action tomorrow against reigning Big Ten champ Iowa at 11 a.m.
