MIAMI -- In a wild, 12-inning contest, Old Dominion dropped a tough 8-7 defeat to FIU via a walkoff home run on Saturday evening at Infinity Insurance Park.

Old Dominion (8-13, 1-4 C-USA) overcame a 5-0 deficit through five innings, scoring five in the sixth and then two in the eighth to take a 7-5 lead.

However, behind the bat of Austin Shenton, FIU (12-13, 3-2 C-USA) answered with a run in the eighth, before Shenton tied the game in the ninth with a solo homer. Three innings later in the 12th, Shenton won it for the Panthers with his second home run of the night.

The Monarchs outhit FIU, 13-9, but committed four costly turnovers that led to three unearned runs for the Panthers.

Erik Stock (3-5, 2 2B, RBI) led ODU at the plate with a career-high three hits. Devon Adams (2-4, 2 RBI) also had a big day and was responsible for the game-tying RBI in the sixth and the go-ahead RBI in the eighth.

Tommy Bell (2-4, 2B, RBI), Bryce Windham (2-5, RBI) and Vinnie Pasquantino (2-6, RBI) also posted multi-hit games.

Hunter Gregory (4 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 7 K) received the loss. The seven strikeouts tied a career high for the true freshman.

With the win, FIU wins the three-game set.

The series finale is set for tomorrow at 12 p.m. ET.
