NORFOLK, Va. – Niko Klosterhalfen was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-American Third Team on Thursday afternoon as announced by CoSIDA. Klosterhalfen is the first ODU student-athlete to earn the honor since men’s basketball’s Alex Loughton earned the honor in 2006.

The German native boasts a 3.88 GPA and will graduate Summer Cum Laude in December with a degree in Psychology.

On Wednesday, the senior was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Second Team. He was also named to the C-USA All-Tournament Team and the C-USA First Team All-Conference.

This season, Klosterhalfen started all 18 matches and collected eight goals and nine assists. He scored two game-winning goals in 2018.

Throughout his career, he’s made 64 starts and played in 66 matches. Klosterhalfen has totaled 58 points off 21 goals and 16 assists.

The last men’s soccer player to receive this honor was Attila Vendegh in 2002.
