NORFOLK, Va. -- Behind a season-best shooting performance, the Old Dominion women's basketball team dominated Coppin State, 81-51, on Saturday afternoon at the Ted Constant Center.
Old Dominion (9-3) shot a season-high 53 percent from the field and 44 percent from three. The 30-point victory was ODU's most lop-sided win since the Monarchs defeated NC Central by 31 in 2016. Defensively, ODU held Coppin State (0-12) to 27 percent shooting.
"We found a way to open up the game, as far as it being a 30-point game but it didn't feel like that. We went with a little bit more cutting and we moved the ball and we were able to find some gaps. " - Coach McCray
ODU had a +18 advantage on the glass that translated into a 38-16 edge for the Monarchs in points in the paint.
With nine wins, Old Dominion has already eclipsed its win total from all of last season.
