Women’s Empowerment Night
Friday’s game served as an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the impact women have had in supporting, leading and teaching the players on the women’s soccer team at ODU, while giving them the platform to be the student-athletes that they are today. This influence has had an effect to not only empower them but also to give them the confidence to empower the next generation of young women. ODU women’s soccer players are role models to over 70 young girls in the community, who participate in the Monarch Soccer Sister program; with the example of female role models in mind, the team is conscious of the impact they can have on young girls through their actions on and off the soccer field, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, stewardship and empowerment.
