Norfolk, VA-James Madison's Teri Joyce scored the only goal of the game this afternoon to lift the visiting Dukes to a 1-0 victory over Old Dominion in a CAA soccer match. With the loss, ODU drops to 3-3-1. JMU improves to 3-3-1.

The lone score came shortly after halftime, when Joyce barreled over Lady Monarch defender Amanda Pietila (Telford, PA) and lofted the ball past the outstretched arms of goalie Tonya Dedmond (North Potomac, MD). Madison's defense took over from there, and several timely saves from Dukes goalie Suzanne Wilson stifled the ODU comeback attempt.

The Lady Monarchs had problems generating offense all afternoon. James Madison held a 11-6 edge in shots and a 4-3 advantage in corners.

ODU goalie Tonya Dedmond made seven saves in the losing effort.

The Lady Monarchs will host their next two games-Friday, September 28 against Duke and Sunday, October 7 against Virginia Tech.
