Cavaliers Down Lady Monarch Lax

NORFOLK, Va. -- Sophomore Ashley Stanwick (Aquasco, Md.) scored the Lady Monarchs' lone goal of the afternoon off a feed from classmate Caroline Jacobs (Gaithersburg, Md.) in the Old Dominion women's lacrosse team's 20-1 loss to #5 Virginia.
The Cavaliers improved to 8-2 while Old Dominion fell to 3-6 overall.
In all, nine different Cavaliers reached the back of the Lady Monarch net led by Kate Breslin with four goals. Megan Havrilla also added three tallies in the victory.
The Cavaliers outshot the Lady Monarchs 32-8 and held the edge in draw controls, 14-10, and groundballs, 22-14.
The Lady Monarchs return to action this weekend in two conference contests. Old Dominion hosts #10 Hofstra on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and Drexel on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Sunday's contest against the Dragons will be the annual scholarship game with the five dollar admission going to benefit the Intercollegiate Foundation for Lacrosse Scholarships. Additionally, at the conclusion of the game against the Dragons, the Lady Monarchs along with the Hampton Roads Chapter of the U.S. Lacrosse will be hosting a clinic for girls interested in lacrosse and improving their skills.
