NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University sailing team and head coach Mitch Brindley released the 2012 spring schedule on Friday with the season set to begin on Feb. 18. The Monarchs and Lady Monarchs are set to take to the water on Feb. 7 to begin practice.
"This is a challenging schedule against many out of conference teams, and I am excited for it to begin," said Brindley on the schedule. "It is going to be a great opportunity for developing our athletes against the best in the country."
Highlighting Old Dominion's home events in the spring include the ODU quad (Feb. 25-26), ODU Open (March 3-4) and the Aaron Szambecki Team Race (March 24-25).
The Monarchs and Lady Monarchs will also host a team race practice on March 31 and April 1 that will coincide with parent's weekend in Norfolk.
In addition, ODU will host the women's conference championship event on April 21-22 when the MAISA Women's Regatta takes place.

The entire spring schedule leads up to a trio of national championship regattas in late May and early June. The ICSA Women's National Championship (May 30-June 2), ICSA/APS Team Race National Championship (June 3-5) and the ICSA/Gill National Championship (June 6-8) will all take place in Austin, Texas this year.
