Monarchs Look To Defend CAA Golf Title This Weekend

NORFOLK, VA. -- The Old Dominion Monarchs will be competing in the 2004 Colonial Athletic Association Championships this weekend at the Nansemond River Golf Club in Suffolk, VA. April 16-18.

The Monarchs have finished tenth or better in seven tournaments thus far this season. ODU won the Mission Inn Tournament in Orlando during the fall and placed third at W&M Kingsmill and sixth at the Wofford Invitational.

Greg Sampson(Warren, RI.) has been ODU's top performer in five tournaments thus far this season. He took second at the W&M Kingsmill Intercollegiate and fourth at the Mission Inn Tournament in Orlando, FL. Adam Condello (Fairport, NY.) placed fifth at the Birkdale Collegiate in Charlotte, NC.

Last year, ODU captured its first ever CAA Championship in a sudden death playoff with UNC Wilmington and advanced to the NCAA West Regionals, placing 15th.

UNC Wilmington is currently ranked 56th nationally and returns four starters from last year's team.
