Field Hockey Takes On Northeastern In CAA Tournament Semifinals

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion field hockey team begins its quest for a 14th Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) title on Saturday, November 3rd at noon at the United States National Training Center in Virginia Beach. The top-seeded Lady Monarchs will take on fourth-seeded Northeastern in the semifinals.
Northeastern defeated fifth-seeded Towson, 3-2, in Wenesday quartefinals to advance to meet the Lady Monarchs. In other quartefinal action, third-seeded Drexel edge out sixth-seeded Hofstra, 4-3. The Dragons will meet second-seeded and defending champion James Madison in Saturday's other semifinal at 2:30 p.m.
The winners of Saturday's semifinals will meet in the championship game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The Lady Monarchs are currently ranked 10th in the nation according to the lastest STX/NFHCA Coaches Poll and ninth in the Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll. Old Dominion will enter the tournament having won 13 of the last 16 CAA Tournaments. The Lady Monarchs are sporting an 11-8 overall mark having taken on four of the nation's top five teams and eight members of the top 20 this season.
Post-season honors will be announced Friday night.
