Arnason Earns CAA Swimmer of the Week For Fourth Time

NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion's senior swimmer Arni Arnason (Mosfellsbaer, Iceland) was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Men's Swimmer of the Week for the fourth time this season it was announced on Monday by the conference office.
Arnason picked up wins in the 100 & 200 breaststroke as well as the 200 individual medley and as a member of the 200 medley relay squad in ODU's 165-127 victory over the Pirates. The win over East Carolina improved the Monarchs to 5-1 on the year.
The two-time CAA Men's Swimmer of the Year clocked in first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 54.41, while in the 200 breaststroke, Arnason logged a time of 2:00.46. He also recorded a 200 individual medley top time of 1:51.43.
Arnason's name still remains among the nation's top times in the 100 & 200 breaststroke nationally. His 100 breaststroke time of 53.32 at the Nike Cup back in November ranks him eighth among all Division I swimmers in the event, while his 200 breaststroke finish at November's Nike Cup in a time of 1:58.32 is currently 15th in the country among Division I competitors.
The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming & diving teams return to action later this week taking on Montclair State and NYU on Friday, January 20 and Army, American, and George Mason in West Point on Saturday, January 21.
