MONARCHS SIGN GOLF RECRUIT

NORFOLK, VA.-Old Dominion University head men's golf coach Murray Rudisill announced that Kyle Hartlaub (Summit, N.J.) has signed a Letter-of-intent for the 2004-05 season. ODU also added Samuel Wright (Nottingham, England) to the 2004 spring season.
Hartlaub attends the David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, FL. He was an alternate for the US Junior Amateur last year and shot a 72-71 in the qualifier. Hartlaub finished in the top ten in two AJGA tournaments. He was third at the Lessing AJGA Classic and seventh at the Steel City Junior Classic. At age 14, he qualifed for the New Jersey State amateur tournament.
Kyle is the son of Jeffrey and Joanne Hartlaub and plans to major in either business or psychology at Old Dominion.
Samuel Wright is a member of the All-England under-18 squad. He placed 17th at the Scottish youth tournament and is a first team member of the Nottinghamshire squad the last three years. His stroke average is 73. Wright is from the same area as two-time CAA Golfer of the Year Geoffrey Harris who graduated last year. The son of Jenny and Jamie Wright, Samuel plans to major in either sports management or sports psychology.
In the fall season, the Monarchs garnered three top ten finishes which included a first place showing in the Mission Inn in Orlando, FL. The Monarchs also took ninth at the Carolina First Reliance Classic and tenth at the ODU/ Seascape Collegiate. Last year, the Monarchs captured the CAA championship and placed 15th at the NCAA West Regional.
