Anna Tunnicliffe ('05) Wins Pre-Olympic Laser Regatta In China

QUINGDAO, CHINA--Three-Time Collegiate sailing National Champion and Collegiate Sailor of the Year Anna Tunnicliffe ('05) captured the gold medal at the Qingdao International Regatta (Laser Radial) which is the second test event before the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.
Tunnicliffe, the USA's number one ranked sailor finished the ten races with 48 points, besting Jo Aleh of New Zealand by five, and Evi Van Acker of Belgiam by 17. A total of 30 competed in the races.
In eight international races this year, Tunnicliffe has two firsts and three other top five performances. She won the Laser Midwinters East Regatta in Clearwater, FL. She was the 2005 and 2006 USA Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year.
Tunnicliffe was a three-time collegiate sailing All-American at Old Dominion. She captured the ICSA Singlehaded national championships in the fall of 2002, 03 and 04. She was named ODU Alumni Association's Female Athlete of the Year and the Norfolk Sports Club's Tom Scott Award winner.
