Old Dominion Duo To Compete At This Week's Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships
Cahana will be competing in women's singles and doubles (with Radeljevic). Ranked fourth in the Wingspan.com national singles rankings, Cahana is the nation's second-highest ranked freshman in the tournament. Cahana is the first top-five qualifier for Old Dominion women's tennis since Tzipi Obziler was ranked #1 with a 29-3 record in 1995. During her time here, Obziler was ITA National Clay Court Champion, an ITA All-American finalist, and Milwaukee Tennis Classic Champion.
Earlier this fall, Cahana won the ITA Eastern Regional Individual Tournament at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She also had a semifinal showing at the Riviera Women's All-American Championships. She has beaten seven players ranked in the top 100. As a doubles tandem, Cahana and Radeljevic are ranked #29 in the country.
The Rolex National Intercollegiates feature a 32-player singles field and 16-team doubles field for men and women, including qualifiers from ITA Regional Championships held across the country during the fall, the Rolex National Small College champions, the winners of the first two legs of the 2000-01 ITA Grand Slam (the T. Rowe Price National Clay Court and All-American Championships) and at-large and wild card selections made by the ITA National Tournament Committee. Overall, more than 5,000 players from nearly 600 schools participate annually in the ITA Regional and Rolex National Intercollegiate Championships.
The ITA Grand Slam also includes the T. Rowe Price National Clay Court Championships, ITA/Riviera All-American Championships and year-end NCAA Championships.
