Norfolk, Va. - The Norfolk based CBS affiliate WTKR TV-3 will air a 30 minute special entitled ODU Football - Building The Pride, this Sunday, Jan. 20 at 12:30 p.m. prior to the AFC Championship Game.
The half hour special focuses on the return of football to the campus of Old Dominion University. The Monarchs, who last fielded a team in 1940, will return to the gridiron on Sept. 5, 2009 when they'll host Chowan University. Included in the feature are interviews with ODU President Dr. Roseann Runte, Athletic Director Dr. Jim Jarrett and head coach Bobby Wilder as they discuss the steps required to build a championship football program. In addition, the show also previews the new football facilities that are being constructed and the renovation plans of Foreman Field, complete with a virtual tour.
As with any college football program the marching band plays a large part in creating an exciting atmosphere and Building The Pride also provides an inside look into that process with Director of Athletic Bands Alex Trevino.
The feature concludes with information on how to get the best seats possible for the 2009 football season. The ODU ticket office begins accepting football season ticket applications on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. at the Constant Center box office, by calling 683-4444 or ordering online at www.odusports.com. Season tickets are priced at $120, $100 for ODU faculty and staff, and $290 for family plans consisting of two adult and two children's tickets. Seat and locations are based on the current priority point system for Big Blue Club members and date of purchase for non-Big Blue Club members.
