ATHENS, GA -- Harel Srugo had a tough draw in the second round of the NCAA Tournament as he was slated to play nationally ranked Luis Flores on his home court. The Monarchs sophomore exits the NCAA Tournament in the second round in consecutive years, as Flores put Srugo away on straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. In doubles action, Srugo and senior teammate Henrique Cancado saw the end of the line in the first round at the hands of the Notre Dame team of Ryan Keckley and Sheeva Parbhu.
Cancado concludes his senior campaign with a season mark of 26-8 in doubles. The two came into the match ranked 15th in the nation and were upset by the 31st ranked team. After the first set, ODU was in great position winning 6-1, but the Irish won 6-2, 7-5 in the second and third to move on in the tournament.
In his rookie campaign a year ago, Srugo was defeated in the second round of singles action. This season, playing a higher ranked opponent on his home court, the result would be the same. The two-time CAA Player of the Year finishes his sophomore year with a 32-12 record on the season.
