Women's Rowing Concludes Season At Dad Vail Semifinals

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Old Dominion women's rowing team concluded the 2009-10 season on Saturday with the frosh/novice 4 and junior varsity 8 competing on the second and final day of the Dad Vail Regatta.
The Dad Vail Regatta is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States, with over 100 colleges and Universities from the U.S. and Canada. The Lady Monarchs were among thousands of student-athletes gather to compete during the weekend of the second Saturday of May.
The Lady Monarchs' frosh/novice 4 boat took fifth in its semifinal heat with the top two times from the heat advancing to the finals. Old Domimion rowed to a fifth-place time of 8:01.95, with Army (7:47.54) and Connecticut (7:48.32) moving on to the finals from the heat.
ODU's junior varsity 8 boat placed fourth, just one spot away from reaching the finals. Buffalo won the semifinal heat (6:38.89) followed by Drexel (6:48.48), and San Diego (6:50.11). The Lady Monarchs captured a time of 6:57.35 to take fourth in the heat.
The Dad Vail Regatta concluded the 2009-10 season for the Lady Monarch women's rowing team.
