Harel Srugo and Henrique Cancado Win Doubles Consolation Bracket At All-American Championships

Tulsa, Okla. -- Although the Monarch men's tennis duo of Harel Srugo and Henrique Cancado exited the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championship doubles main draw after the first round, the Old Dominion 52nd-ranked doubles team came back to win the consolation bracket picking up wins against four ranked teams along with way.
The consolation bracket got started with a win over No. 19 Martin Stiegwardt and Anze Cevka of CAA rival Georgia State, 9-8 (5). The quarterfinals saw Srugo and Cancado pick up a huge win as they defeated No. 6 Clement Feix and Jermaine Jenkins of Clemson, 8-1. In the semifinals, the Monarchs downed No. 29 David North and Eric Molnar of Georgia Tech, 8-6, setting up the final against the No. 35 doubles entry from Oklahoma. In the consolation bracket finale, Srugo and Cancado defeated Marek Velicka and Federico Chavarria, 8-6
To date, Srugo and Cancado have compiled a 9-3 fall tournament record with wins over four of the five ranked opponents they have faced.
