Cancado And Igarashi End Play At ITA Mideast Regionals

Chapel Hill, N.C. -- The Old Dominion men's tennis team ended play at the 2005 ITA Mideast Regional on the campus of North Carolina on Saturday afternoon. The Monarch doubles team of junior Henrique Cancado (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and sophomore Eidy Igarashi (São José do Rio Preto, Brazil), which scored an upset over the top seeded team from Georgia Tech yesterday, had its run halted in the quarterfinals, while Cancado concluded play in the Round of 16 of the singles bracket.
Cancado and Igarashi were stopped by William & Mary's duo of Billy Mulligan and Colin O'Brien, 8-5. The Monarch team picked up three wins en route to its quarterfinal final appearance this week.
Cancado wrapped up play as he was defeated by the tournament's top seed in Ludovic Walter. Walter topped Cancado, 6-4, 7-6(3) in the Round of 16.
