Monarchs Host Elizabeth City State in Exhibition Saturday Night

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Monarchs return to action on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the Ted Constant Convocation Center when they host the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University in their second and final exhibition game of the season.

ECSU returns all five starters from last year's 17-14 squad led by senior guard Trent Bivens (12.7 ppg./5.0 rpg),6-3 junior guard Marquie Cooke (11.5 ppg/4.1 rpg), and 6-6 junior forward Paul Goldsmith (10.7 ppg/ 7.3 rpg). Cooke a native from Suffolk, VA., earned All-CAA honors last year. The Vikings are coached by Shawn Walker who is in his eighth season at the school.

Int he last game, the Monarchs defeated Virginia State, 79-48 behind 18 points from Ben Finney. Keyon Carter added 11 points, Kent Bazemore 12 and Marquel De Lancey 10. Frank Hassell and Chris Cooper both hauled in nine rebounds.

This will be the Monarchs final tune-up before opening the season against the Hoyas of Georgetown on Friday, Nov. 12th in the Constant Center.
