Wrestling Trounces Delaware State, 43-7

Norfolk, VA-The Old Dominion wrestling team used several forfeits and two pins to defeat Delaware State this evening, 43-7. The Monarchs improve to 4-9 overall with two matches remaining.
The Hornets won the opening two matches with a Myron Drayton major decision at 141 and a Joseph Monegro decision at 149. ODU junior Jesse Pearce (Norfolk, VA) countered with a dominating 13-0 major decision at 157, bringing his season record to 16-8 overall.
Any doubts of Old Dominion's dominance were put to rest in the following two matches. Senior Jeff Rusak (Reading, PA) pinned Haneef Lumpkin at the 4:35 mark in the 174 lb. bout and freshman John Adams (Chesapeake, VA) picked up another win at 184 by pinning DSU's Sam Johnson.
Greg Gill (Chesapeake, VA) picked up the final win of the night for ODU, defeating Richard Foley 3-0.
Only six bouts were wrestled during the evening, with Delaware State forfeiting the 125, 133, 165 and heavyweight matches.
Jeff Rusak (#4 InterMat/#4 AWN) moved closer to finishing a perfect regular season tonight, upping his record to 28-0 with 15 pins. The senior can finish his collegiate career undefeated in dual matches if he can prevail in his final two contests with Howard and George Mason.
Old Dominion will be in action again this Sunday, when they host Howard at 2:00 p.m.
