Monarch Swimmers Split with JMU & Davidson

Norfolk, VA-The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving squads enjoyed mixed success at the fourth annual scholarship swim meet today, defeating Davidson College but dropping two contests with James Madison. The men's side is now 5-3 while the women stay even at 4-4.

The women defeated Davidson 130-111 and fell to the Dukes, 142-100. Jamie D'Agostino (Ardsley, NY) posted victories in the 500 and 100 freestyle events and sophomore Melody Wolff (Poughkeepsie, NY) took first in the 200 back. Divers Ashley Kirchner (Arlington, VA) and Andria Cucchiara (Billerica, MA) posted wins on the diving boards.

The men defeated Davidson 138-94 and lost to JMU 135-97. Senior Mark Giusto (Va. Beach, VA) rang up wins in the 50 and 100 freestyle races and diver Joe Kieffer (Hamburg, NY) swept the 1 and 3 meter diving events.

The swimming and diving teams will be back in action next weekend, when they travel to Wilmington, NC for a tri-meet against UNC-Wilmington and William & Mary.
