Jacobs Named CAA Women's Lacrosse Co-Player Of The Week

NORFOLK, Va. - Sophomore Caroline Jacobs (Gaithersburg, Md.) was named the CAA Co-Player of the Week it was announced on Monday by the conference office. In the final week of the regular season, Jacobs poured in nine goals and three assists as the Lady Monarchs dropped two close games to nationally ranked opponents, #20 William & Mary and #9 North Carolina.
Against the 20th-ranked Tribe, Jacobs had three goals, three assists, tied her career-high with six groundballs, and caused a career-high five turnovers. Jacobs then netted six of ODU's seven goals for a career-high in the Lady Monarchs' one goal loss to #9 North Carolina.
She concluded the 2005 season leading the Lady Monarchs in points (45), assists (18), groundballs (51), and caused turnovers (25) and was second in draw controls (21) and assists (18). This week, among CAA women's lacrosse student-athletes, she ranked fourth in assists per game, seventh in points per game, fifth in caused turnovers per game, and topped the list in groundballs per game. Last week, she ranked ninth among all Division I women's lacrosse players in groundballs averaging 3.5 per game.
The Lady Monarchs concluded the 2005 season with a 3-12 overall record.
