Sailing Monarchs Earn Trip to Nationals With Fourth Place Finish in the America Trophy District Championships

After 14 races, Hobart-William Smith won the District Regatta title with 97 points, while St. Mary's took second with 105 and Navy edged ODU out for third by one point with 113 points.
The Monarchs A-division boat came up with two first places, and three seconds in 14 races and tallied 43 points, while the B-division boat sailed by Justin Castagne, (Trinidad, W.Indies) Brad Funk (Harbor Bluffs, Fla.), Christine Thomas(Norfolk, Va.) and Elizabeth Biondi (Norwalk, Ct.) took fourth with 71 points. The B-boat tallied one first, one second and four third place finishes.
Last weekend, the Lady Monarchs sailing squad qualified for the women's Collegiate Sailing National Championships to be held, May 28-30 at St. Mary's College in Maryland.
