Monarchs Tied For Fourth At Collegiate Dinghy Sailing Nationals
KINGS POINT, NY (June 5) - The Old Dominion University sailing Monarchs are tied with Harvard for fourth place at the ICYRA Collegiate Co-ed Dinghy Sailing National Championships which are being hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
After seven races, the Monarchs have 94 points, just 14 beind current leader St. Mary's College with 80 in the 18-team field.
The Monarchs A-boat skippered by Brad Funk(Harbor Bluffs, Fla.) with crew, Elizabeth Biondi (Norwalk, Ct.)and Justin Castagne (Trinidad, West Indies) placed fifth with 46 points . they had two second place finishes and one first.
The Monarchs B-boat skippered by Adam Burns (Youngstown, NY.), along with crew Abigail Curran (Osterville, Me.), and Heather Pescatello (Westerly, R.I.) placed sixth with 48 points. They had two second places today.
The second round of sailing will be Tuesday.
