Jennifer Angat Named CAA Field Hockey Player Of The Week

NORFOLK, Va. -- Jennifer Angat (Va. Beach, Va.), a junior midfielder on the Old Dominion field hockey team, was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week for the week ending September 12th it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference office.

Angat played a significant role in both the Lady Monarchs' victories this past weekend, which included a 3-2 overtime victory at Michigan and a 3-1 win against Syracuse on a neutral turf.

The junior midfield provided the game-tying assist against the Wolverines with less than two minutes remaining in regulation and then proceeded to lift the Lady Monarchs to victory with the game-winning goal with two and a half minutes left in the first sudden victory overtime period. Angat then assisted on the game-winning goal against the Orangewomen the following day.

A local product from Virginia Beach's Tallwood High School, Angat currently leads the Lady Monarch field hockey team with six points off of two goals and two assists. Additionally, she currently holds a perfect shooting percentage on net.

Old Dominion finishes out the last leg of its season opening six-game road trip this coming weekend. The Lady Monarchs take on North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. on Saturday, September 18th at 1:00 p.m. in one of the most storied rivalries in collegiate field hockey. Old Dominion then travels to Durham, N.C. to take on the 2003 National Runner-ups in Duke on Sunday, September 19th at 1:00 p.m. Both the Tar Heels and Blue Devils will make appearances in Norfolk later in the season.
