NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 25 Old Dominion University Wrestling team travels this weekend to Buies Creek, N.C. on Saturday to face Campbell at 1 p.m. and then to Blacksburg, Va. on Sunday evening for a 6 p.m. start against No. 23 Virginia Tech.

The Monarchs (10-7) are ranked No. 25 for the second consecutive week in the NCWA/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Poll. ODU is coming off a 3-1 performance in the CAA Duals in Fairfax last weekend where they downed Boston University (36-3), Drexel (22-12) and George Mason (33-6) while falling to No. 25 Hofstra (21-12).

Led by No. 13 Te Edwards (174), ODU has four ranked wrestlers in the national polls this week. WrestlingReport.com also has No. 29 Justin LaValle (141), No. 27 John Nicholson (157) and No. 27 Tristan Warner (165) ranked for ODU. The NCAA released the first Division I Coaches Rankings of the season this week featuring Edwards, Nicholson, LaValle, Warner as well as Jerome Robinson (125) in at No. 26 while Scott Festejo (133) came in at No. 33 to put six total Monarchs ranked.

Campbell (9-12) is coming off a thrilling 19-17 win at home over Duke on Thursday night. It’s the first win over an ACC foe for the Camels since 2002. The win snapped a four-match losing streak for Campbell, who went 0-2 with losses to Rutgers and North Dakota State at the Virginia Duals two weeks ago. The Camels are led by redshirt freshman James Cook (174) at 16-5 and redshirt senior No. 33 John Weakley (197) at 20-7. The Monarchs are 10-0 all-time against Campbell with their last meeting coming in 2006 when ODU won, 34-14.

No. 23 Virginia Tech (6-3) will head west to face No. 10 Oklahoma on Friday evening before returning to Blacksburg on Sunday to face ODU on Senior Night. The Hokies have won three straight duals (North Carolina, NC State and Duke) after opening 2012 with a home loss to No. 13 Maryland and dropping a 20-14 decision at Iowa State, a team ODU defeated earlier in the year, 21-16. Sophomore Devin Carter (133), who is 25-1 this season and currently ranked No. 1 nationally, leads Virginia Tech. Also ranked for the Hokies is No. 19 Zach Neibert (141) and #7 Pete Yates (165). ODU leads the all-time series with Virginia Tech, 21-15, but the Hokies have won their last two meetings.
