Lady Monarchs Prepare For CAA Soccer Tournament

NORFOLK, Va. (Oct. 30) -- The Colonial Athletic Association recently announced the pairings for the 2000 women's soccer tournament to be held at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex, November 2-5. The Old Dominion University Lady Monarchs will enter the tournament as a #4 seed and will take on #5 VCU Thursday night at 7:30. In the 5 p.m. matchup #3 James Madison will take on #6 UNCW. There will be only six teams in this year's tournament with the impending departure of American, ECU, and Richmond, who will be ineligible for tournament play.

Receiving first-round byes will be #1 George Mason and #2 William & Mary. Should the Lady Monarchs defeat the Rams in the first round, they will be rewarded with a rematch against the Patriots, who defeated Old Dominion in overtime earlier this year. The winner of the JMU-UNCW game will take on #2 William & Mary. The conference championship game will be Sunday, November 5 at 2 p.m.
