Top Ranked St. John's Defeats Monarchs, 4-0

PISCATAWAY, NJ- Number one ranked St. John's defeated the Monarchs of Old Dominion University, 4-0 in the first round of the Rutgers Adidas Soccer Classic. The Red Storm are now 8-1-1, while ODU is now 4-3.

St. John's led, 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Chris Corcoran. The Red Storm scored three second half goals by Angel Rodriguez, Simone Salimo and Rich Bradley. Bradley, Salimo, and Rodriguez each had an assist on the night as well.

This was the Monarchs third game this season against a nationally ranked team. Earlier this season ODU lost to #22 Wake Forest, then defeated #12 American University.

ODU goal keeper Samuel Cameron (Raleigh, NC.) came up with seven saves on the evening. The Red Storm outshot the Monarchs, 20-7. ODU will play host Rutgers, currently ranked 13th nationally on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
