Men's Tennis Blanks Norfolk State

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Old Dominion tennis team blanked cross town rival Norfolk State back on January 27th at Center Court Racket Club in Newport News.

The Monarchs won in straight sets in all six singles matches highlighted by No. 90 Eidy Igarashi (São José do Rio Preto, Brazil) posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Pavel Suchy at No. 3 singles and Matthew Sands (Nassau, Bahamas) earning a 6-0, 6-0 win over Omari Dennis at No. 6 singles.

Other winners included Harel Srugo (Kibutz Gazit, Israel) with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Vicek Miroslav at No. 1 singles, Henrique Cancado (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) with his 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles over Peter Krakora, Aleksandr Seleznev's (Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic) 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles against Vassil Zahaview, and Rodrigo Souza's (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) No. 5 singles win, 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles, Nate Grover (Suffolk, Va.) and Srugo earned an 8-4 win over Miroslav and Vassil Zahaview at the number one spot. At No. 2 doubles, Seleznev and Souza combined for an 8-3 win over Suchy and Krakora and at No. 3 doubles, #33 Cancado and Igarashi played their way to an 8-1 win over DelCastillo and Dennis.
