No. 67 Northwestern Ends Monarchs Winning Streak With 4-2 Victory

Norfolk, Va. – The 69th ranked ODU men’s tennis team had its five-match winning streak snapped on Sunday with a 4-2 loss to No. 67 Northwestern at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis center.


Northwestern picked up the doubles with an 8-3 victory at No. 2 and an 8-6 victory at No. 3.  The Monarchs sole doubles win came at No. 1 where Aleksandr Seleznev and Tobias Fanselow defeated the Northwestern duo of Marc Dwyer and Tobias Reitz.


In singles action, the Monarchs managed just two straight set victories courtesy of Seleznev and Matt Fawcett.  Seleznev defeated Dwyer 7-6, 6-0 at No. 1 and Fawcett got past Joshua Graves 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4.


The Monarchs return to action on Saturday, March 7 when they’ll host UNC Wilmington.
