Srugo Chosen As CAA Men's Tennis Most Outstanding Player

RICHMOND, Va. -- Old Dominion's Harel Srugo (Kibutz Gazit, Israel) has been selected as the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2006 CAA Men's Tennis Championship last weekend in Newport News, Va.
Srugo, the CAA Rookie of the Year and Co-Player of the Year, compiled a 3-0 singles record while leading the Monarchs to the championship match against top-seeded VCU. Playing at the No. 1 position, the freshman defeated Delaware's Jesse Carl 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals, and William & Mary's Colin O'Brien 7-5, 6-4 in the semifinals.
Srugo then ousted VCU's Arnaud Lecloerec, who is No. 15 in the ITA rankings, in a finals matchup of the conference's Co-Players of the Year by a score of 6-2, 6-2. He also teamed with Aleksandr Seleznev at No. 1 doubles to beat Lecloerec and Petr Olsak 8-6.
Srugo currently sits 25th in the latest ITA singles rankings, and 45th with Seleznev in the doubles rankings.
