NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's lacrosse head coach Sue Stahl has announced the Lady Monarchs schedule for the upcoming 2010 season. The slate includes matchups with three teams that advanced to the 2009 NCAA Tournament, including national finalist North Carolina.

The Lady Monarchs open the 2010 season on the road against American University on March 6. ODU will then play its home opener at the Powhatan Sports Complex on March 10 against Richmond.

After another home contest against non-league foe St. Joe's (3/20), the Lady Monarchs will travel to Longwood to take on the Lancers on March 24. Old Dominion will then host Virginia Tech on March 27th with hopes of avenging an 11-10 double overtime loss a season ago.

ODU will then conclude its non-league schedule against back-to-back 2009 NCAA qualifiers. The Lady Monarchs will travel to Virginia (3/31) before hosting North Carolina (4/4). The Tar Heels reached the NCAA Championship game last season, falling to Northwestern.

The Lady Monarchs will open up Colonial Athletic Association action on the road against Drexel (4/9) and Hofstra (4/11). The CAA home-opener for ODU will come against defending league champion Towson on April 16. The Lady Monarchs will then continue a three-game homestand against Delaware (4/18) and James Madison (4/23).

Old Dominion will conclude the regular season with a pair of league road games against George Mason (4/25) and William & Mary (4/29). The CAA Tournament will be held at the home of the highest seed, beginning on May 6.

The Lady Monarchs finished the 2009 season with an 11-5 overall record. The Lady Monarchs also won three of the four major Colonial Athletic Association awards. Kelly Kimener won the league's Player of the Year honors, while Stahl garnered Coach of the Year for the fifth time in her career. Redshirt freshman Sarah Geary was named the CAA Rookie of the Year. ODU was ranked as high as No. 17 nationally during the 2009 season.
