Lady Monarchs Lose 1-0 to Hofstra

NORFOLK, VA -The Old Dominion women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 overtime loss to the Hofstra Pride Sunday afternoon at the ODU Soccer Stadium. Elyse Bizzozzaro scored Hofstra's game-winning goal with just 1:31 remaining in the first overtime period. ODU falls to 8-6-2 overall, 4-2-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Hofstra improves to 11-5-1 and is 5-3 in the CAA. Going into the game, the Lady Monarchs had a one point lead over Hofstra and VCU in the CAA standings.
After a scoreless regulation, Hofstra's Chrissy Arnone fed Elyse Bizzozzaro the ball for the game-winning score in overtime.
For the game, ODU out-shot Hofstra 11-7 and had a 4-3 edge on corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Miller (Plymouth Meeting, PA) made four saves in the game.
The Lady Monarchs finish off their regular season next week, traveling to Richmond for a 7:00 game against VCU on Thursday, October 28, and traveling to UNC-Wilmington for a 2:00 contest on Saturday, October 30.
