NORFOLK, VA. -- In voting by the league's head coaches, senior Katie Watson was named as one of the league's top forwards heading into 2008. Watson was named to the Pre-Season All-CAA women's soccer team despite missing 2007 with an injury. In 2006, Watson led the league in scoring with 33 points, leading the league in assists with seven and tying for second in goals scored with 13. The 5-4 forward from Woodbridge, Va. returns as one of the program's historically best scorers and is one of nine seniors for head coach Joe Pereira.

Watson became ODU's first and only Scholar All-American in 2006 when she was named an All-CAA first teamer. She was also First Team All-State (VaSID), Second Team All-Region (NSCAA/adidas) and Second Team All-Mid-Atlantic (SOCCER BUZZ) after leading ODU to its first ever NCAA Tournament berth.

The Lady Monarchs return nine seniors to the field in 2008 with Watson leading the way up front. After an injury riddled season in 2007, the Lady Monarchs finished with a record of 7-8-2. Still, the senior class is the winningest class in ODU history, with a three-year record of 36-20-3 (.636).
