Roble & Komar Named ICSA All-American's
June 8, 2010
MADISON, Wisc. - Junior skipper Stephanie Roble and senior crew Michael Komar were each named 2010 ICSA All-American's after stellar performances throughout the year and at the National Championships last week.
The ICSA All-American honors are awarded to competitors who have demonstrated outstanding performance in competition during the college sailing year (fall and spring seasons) just concluded. A panel of representatives from each of the seven ICSA conferences reviews each sailor's individual results and sailors are named to the team as All-Americans, Women's All-Americans and/or All-American Crews. Their names will be added to the permanent ICSA Hall of Fame display located in the Robert Crown Sailing Center at the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis, Md.).
Roble, who earned Honorable Mention honors for the women's team last year, was one of 10 student-athletes selected to the women's skipper All-America Team. Komar was one of 20 recipients who got the nod as 2010 ICSA Crew All-American's.
The duo joins 2009 grad Jaclyn Finney to give the Monarchs three All-American's in the last two year's. Prior to Finney, ODU hadn't had an All-American since the 2004-05 season.
Roble sailed in both the women's and coed national championship regattas for ODU, leading the Lady Monarchs to a third-place finish. The junior sailed with sophomore crew Emily Reich and the duo finished fifth in the A-Division with 78 points.
Komar sailed with Roble for six A Division races at the coed national championships. The duo posted three Top 10 finishes together.
