Richmond, VA (October 10, 2000) -- The Old Dominion University women's soccer team defeated the VCU Rams this evening, 4-1. The Lady Monarchs improve to 10-5 overall, 3-2 CAA. VCU falls to 5-8, 1-4 CAA.

Freshman Diane Baucom (Va. Beach, VA) put the Lady Monarchs on the board first at 9:49, but VCU would answer with a game-tying goal just minutes before halftime. Old Dominion would come out on fire in the second half, however, as junior forward Melanie McGovern (Somerdale, NJ) scored three straight unanswered goals to put the game away for the Lady Monarchs.

Old Dominion outshot VCU 19-11 for the game, including 12-6 in the second-half. Junior Jen Henley (Chalfont, PA), who tallied three assists in tonight's win, now holds the team record for career assists--just one game after becoming the Lady Monarchs all-time leader in goals scored.

Old Dominion will travel to #9 Duke on Friday, October 13, where head coach Joe Pereira will attempt to collect win #200. The Lady Monarchs will then host CAA foe American on Sunday at 1 p.m.
