The Old Dominion University wrestling team travels to Campbell Wednesday night for a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) contest starting at 7:00 p.m. This is the first of a three-match set this week as they wrestle at Drexel on Saturday before hosting Virginia on Sunday.
The Monarchs start the week with a 4-6 overall record, 1-3 in the CAA. After winning their first two duals, ODU has only won two of their last eight.
The Camels carry a 4-12 clip with a 1-6 conference mark. The Monarchs have never lost to Campbell, boasting a perfect 6-0 record.
ODU continues conference competition on Saturday when they face Drexel at 2:30 p.m. The Dragons are first in the conference with a 6-0 record and have seven wrestlers ranked in the conference. Their starter at heavyweight, Mike Carroll, is ranked first in the CAA and will face the second ranked Derrell Lorthridge (Wilmington, DE) from ODU.
On Sunday Old Dominion hosts Virginia in their annual Scholarship Match at 2:00 p.m. Tickets for that meet are $5 and all ODU students get in free with a student I.D. ODU and UVA have battled 33 times since 1958 with the Cavs holding a slight 17-16 advantage. All proceeds from Sunday's match will benefit the Old Dominion Intercollegiate Foundation for wrestling scholarships.
