NORFOLK, VA - Senior Tiffany Snow (Escondido, CA) scored three goals and added an assist to lead the fourth ranked Lady Monarchs to a 10-0 shutout victory against Virginia Commonwealth on Saturday. The victory, the Lady Monarchs' fourth of the year, puts Old Dominion at 8-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The Rams playing in their CAA opener fall to 3-4 overall.

The victory marks the 48th consecutive CAA win for the Lady Monarchs since 1995. Old Dominion has now outscored their CAA rivals this season 34-3.

Sophomore midfielder Lotte Bant (Amsterdam, Holland) scored the first of two first half goals for the Lady Monarchs in the eighth minute with a high netter over the VCU netminder into the upper hand right corner. Snow tallied her first goal of the afternoon of a penalty corner, with assists from juniors Melissa Leonetti (Erdenheim, PA) and Angie Loy (Loysville, PA), in the closing minutes of the first stanza giving Old Dominion a 2-0 half time lead.

In the second half, Old Dominion continued their offensive assault by scoring eight goals by four different Lady Monarchs. Sophomore Cora Gerardi (Frederica, DE) led the second half charge with two late goals with 4:25 left and :25 remaining for her first collegiate goals. Other Lady Monarchs reaching the back of the Ram net included Snow, CAA Rookie of the Week Rosalinda Banuelos (Escondido, CA), and senior Tara Herrmann (Perkasie, PA)

VCU's offense had difficulty moving the ball past midfield as they were out shot by ODU 36-0 with no penalty corners for the game. Old Dominion on the other hand managed to record 23 penalty corner opportunities. Senior Marybeth Freeman (Holland, PA) and junior Tina Walker (Suffolk, VA) combined for the shutout. The Rams' Abby Stiles (Va. Beach, VA) and Becca Leuzzi (Va Beach, VA) stopped a total of 14 shots on net.
