FAIRFAX STATION, Va. - The 2010 Virginia 529 College Savings Plan CAA Rowing Championship, hosted by George Mason University, will take place on Sunday, April 25 at Sandy Run Regional Park in Fairfax Station, Va.

The championship kicks off with the Varsity 4 race at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Second Varsity 8 race at 9:40. The championship concludes with the Varsity 8 race at 9:50 a.m.

Six teams will battle it out in three events for the CAA crown on the Occoquan Reservoir. Northeastern, which won the inaugural CAA Rowing Championship in 2009, is expected to be among the favorites again this year. The Huskies captured the Orange Cup in Philadelphia earlier this month.

Last year's runner-up, the University at Buffalo, also has its sights set on the title after a strong spring slate. The Bulls won the Harvey Cup in Buffalo and also picked up four wins in the Indiana Invitational and a pair of victories at the Knecht Cup in Camden, N.J.

Drexel finished first in the Petite Final at the San Diego Crew Classic and also won the Lela Kerr Cup in Philadelphia, while Old Dominion placed second at the Kerr Cup. George Mason swept West Virginia last week and Delaware picked up a pair of third-place finishes at this year's Murphy Cup.
