Men's Tennis Falls At No.16 Louisville

Louisville, Ky. – The ODU men’s tennis team fell to the 16th ranked Cardinals of Louisville 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in Louisville.  The Cardinals improved to 15-3 on the season, while the Monarchs fell to 15-10.


The Monarchs grabbed the doubles point to start the match as the 33rd ranked duo of Aleksandr Seleznev and Tobias Fanselow combined to upset Louisville's eleventh ranked Austen Childs and Simon Childs 8-5 at the top seed. Matt Fawcett and Ben Marks edged Louisville's Viktor Maksimcuk and Tim Barnoud 9-8 at the two-spot to clinch the point. Louisville's Robert Rotaru and Alejandro Calligari picked up an 8-2 win over ODU's Yakov Diskin and Alex Funkhouser at the three-spot.


In singles action, the Monarchs managed just one victory.  That coming at the No. 6 position where Krzysztof Muzalewski defeated Andrew Carter in straight sets 7-6, 6-2 to record his 11th dual match win this year.


ODU returns to the courts on Saturday, March 28 when the Monarchs host Binghamton.
