NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team topped cross-town foe Hampton, 7-0 Friday afternoon at the Centre Court Racquet Club in Newport News. The #75 Lady Monarchs improved to 1-0 overall and will next travel to #15 William and Mary Thursday, January 25 for a 4 pm match.

Fourth-ranked Nataly Cahana (Qiriat Bialik, Israel) led the way at first singles while the 29th-ranked doubles tandem of Cahana and Ana Radeljevic (Zagreb, Croatia) led the doubles sweep.

"Hampton has some very talented girls and it was unfortunate that an illness kept them from playing a full line up," said Old Dominion Tennis Director Darryl Cummings. "(Assistant) Coach (John) Hill and I were very satisfied with our teams performance. Our players played with energy, confidence, and they dictated the points. It is a great way to begin the season."

"This is one of our most talented teams ever and we look forward to the challenges ahead of us," Cummings added.
