King, McClam to Participate in FCS Senior Scout Bowl
Dec. 14, 2011
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Monarch senior defensive linemen Chad King (Springfield, Va.) and Edmon McClam (Cowart, S.C.) are among the student-athletes selected to participate in the FCS Senior Scout Bowl presented by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) scheduled for Saturday, December 17th at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The all-star game will showcase seniors from the Football Championship Subdivision in a North vs. South format.
Both King and McClam helped Old Dominion to 27-8 mark in their three-year career as the winningest start-up FCS program in history. As seniors in 2011, the ODU defensive linemen guided the Monarchs to a 10-3 overall record, 6-2 mark in the CAA and second place finish in the league after being picked 10th in the preseason poll, ODU's first ever national and top-10 ranking, as well as the Monarchs' first ever appearance in the FCS playoffs.
King started and appeared in nine games at defensive end where he totaled 44 tackles (26 solo, 18 assisted) along with 6.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, among the Monarch leaders in both categories. King captured a career-high 10 tackles in the Monarchs' second round FCS playoff game with #3/2 Georgia Southern. He also registered a sack in seven of his nine appearances and averaged 6.5 tackles during the Monarchs' playoff run, which included an 11-yard sack in first round action with Norfolk State.
McClam started all 13 games at defensive tackle this past season and finished out his ODU career with seven blocks - six blocked PATs and one blocked field goal - and was just one block shy of tying the FCS career record in blocks. McClam totaled 42 tackles (15 solo, 27 assisted) along with 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and tied his career-high with seven tackles against #3/2 Georgia Southern in the second round playoff match-up. He also registered six tackles against Hampton, which also included two sacks for a loss of 12 yards, and forced a pair of fumbles against the Pirates. McClam also made five stops in games with CAA Champion Towson and in the regular season finale at William & Mary.
Saturday's game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff at Doug Shaw Stadium. Rosters and broadcast information can be found by clicking here.
